When Someone “Does Yoga for You”

Combining rhythmic acupressure, deep tissue work, and passive stretching, Thai Bodywork is simultaneously energizing and relaxing. It is an ideal modality for restoring joint mobility, soft tissue health, and whole body alignment. You can expect to walk out feeling refreshed and reset both physically and mentally!

My sessions are 90 min to allow enough time for a thorough session. You need not be a yogi to experience the many benefits of Thai Bodywork!

Benefits of Thai Bodywork

An Ancient Physical Therapy with Modern Applications

Thai Bodywork is a wonderful modality for most people. It can be used either as a whole body session or to hone in on specific issues. When used as a whole body session it improves the balance of the 4 elements within us: earth, water, fire & wind. It removes stagnation and blockages to improve the flow of the gross & subtle winds through the Sen, which means that it can improve circulation of blood and fluids while also balancing the nervous system. It is well known to help increase flexibility and range of motion through passive stretching and joint mobilization while improving tissue health through compression and point work. Underlying the physical benefits, Traditional Thai Bodywork is strongly rooted in a Buddhist spiritual tradition which holds the practitioner to standards of non-violence (ahimsa) and loving kindness (metta). People of all religions and belief systems are more than welcome.

Thai Bodywork as practiced by our highly qualified and experienced practitioners can also be used to treat specific problems both physically and emotionally. We most often help our clients with physical issues like tight hips and shoulders, pain in the back, neck or knees, jaw tension, and much more. Because emotions are experienced and expressed in our bodies, we can also use this modality to help balance them. Some people like to verbally process the emotional piece with us as we do the bodywork, and others do not. We are happy to meet you right where you are. Feel free to book a phone consultation or email us to see if we can help you.

If you have ever taken a great exercise class and felt deeply refreshed on all levels afterwards, that is much like the feeling that Traditional Thai Bodywork often imparts on the receiver.

What Does a Session Look Like?

We’ll begin with a thorough intake to understand your body history, conditions, and reasons for seeking Thai Bodywork. Because healing is never one-size-fits-all, or even one-size-fits-the-way-it-did-yesterday, we then craft each and every session to your needs and goals. Thai Bodywork is traditionally done with the client fully dressed in comfortable, stretchy clothing while lying on a big comfy floor mat. Clients may be worked with in prone, supine, side-lying and seated positions depending on what body areas need to be addressed in the session. Pressure is adjusted based on client preference and layer of soft tissue being targeted.

Most of my Thai Bodywork clients come in every 1-4 weeks. If we are working on a specific issue, 1-2 weeks is the recommended cadence.
